Landscaping with Native Plants

If you're trying to decide what to plant to make your property more attractive, give serious thought to plants that are native to the Pinelands. The big advantage is that these plants are quite hearty, requiring less attention -- and less water -- than plantings designed for more hospitable environments. Less water used for plants means less water drawn from our stressed underground aquifers, and less potential for runoff into our lake.

Here is a list of plants specifically recommended for lakefront planting by the OTCC.

The Pinelands Commission has also prepared a list of native plants suitable for residential plantings. Click here to download that list.
